Yiwu Selected as the Provincial Information Economic Development Demonstration Zone
The Commission of Economy and Information Technology and the Provincial Department of Finance of Zhejiang released the list of provincial information economic development demonstration zones of 2017, and a total of 10 counties (districts, cities) throughout the province were selected, including Yiwu.
In recent years, in conformity to the new trend and situation of "Internet +", Yiwu vigorously boosted the deep integration of informatization and industrialization, raised the informatization level of strategic industries including daily and fashion consumer goods, information network economy, advanced equipment manufacturing, and food, medicine & health, positively promoted "the replacement of man with machine", and pushed ahead with such work as platform building, intelligent manufacturing of enterprises, and smart application in a down-to-earth way, thus achieving a good status of information economic development.
It was revealed by data that in 2015, the total scale of information economic industry in Yiwu was RMB 155 billion, with a year-on-year growth of 30%, including RMB 151.1 billion of e-commerce turnover (with the turnover of cross-border e-commerce being RMB 58.2 billion) and RMB 4 billion of operating income of information services, with a year-on-year growth of 33%. According to the Comprehensive Evaluation Report on the Information Economic Development of Zhejiang 2015 jointly published by the Commission of Economy and Information Technology and the Statistics Bureau of Zhejiang last year, the general index of Yiwu's information economic development was 101.83, and the sub-item of information infrastructure scored 145.89, ranking first among the county-level cities of Zhejiang.
