New Standard of the US for Toy Safety Taking Effect, Toy Export of Yiwu Facing a "Big Test"
On Mar. 11, the 4-day US Las Vegas International Consumer Goods and Gifts Show 2018 was held at the Las Vegas Convention Center. ASTM F963-17, a new standard of the US for toy safety, formally took effect on Feb. 28, 2018.
"The US toy standards were updated frequently in recent years, giving a great shock to the toy export of Yiwu. Many toy products missed the opportunity to enter the US market because of the failure to meet the rigorous US standards," relevant principal of the Yiwu Toy Association said. Aiming at various conditions in the US market, many toy companies of Yiwu made such adjustments as upgrading production equipment, improving product quality, etc., and most of them have possessed the ability to cope with changes in the US toy standards; however, at the same time, the companies still need to further accelerate transformation and upgrading in order to reduce the risks in overseas markets.
