Yiwu sees foreign trade up 55.5% in Jan-April

The total value of the city's imports and exports exceeded 142.95 billion yuan ($21.02 billion) during the period. Exports grew 50.9 percent year-on-year to 130.67 billion yuan, while imports increased 130.7 percent year-on-year to 12.28 billion yuan.

Yiwu also saw its foreign trade grow 35.5 percent year-on-year to 36.66 billion yuan in April. Exports rose 35.8 percent year-on-year to 34.2 billion yuan, while imports rose 31.9 percent to 2.46 billion yuan.

In addition, the city imported 7.39 billion yuan in consumer goods, an increase of 65 percent over last year and accounting for 60.2 percent of the city's total imports.

During this period, Yiwu exported 100.11 billion yuan in goods through market procurement trade, a year-on-year increase of 47.2 percent, accounting for 76.6 percent of the city's total exports, and increasing the city's export growth by 37.1 percentage points. General trade imports and exports increased by 62.2 percent year-on-year to 36.26 billion yuan.

In the first four months of 2022, foreign trade between Yiwu and countries and regions involved in the Belt and Road Initiative totaled 54.83 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 40.3 percent. Imports and exports to other member countries of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership amounted to 25.44 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 82.8 percent.
