Designated Port for Imported Fruits of Yiwu Airport Approved for Construction
A few days ago, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China (AQSIQ) formally approved the planning of Yiwu Airport for the construction of the designated port for imported fruits. After all preparations are finished and pass the review and acceptance of expert group, Yiwu Airport will be formally approved as the designated port for imported fruits, via which foreign fruits can be directly imported. This will be the third designated port of Yiwu approved following those respectively for imported meat and chilled aquatic products.
In accordance with the provisions of AQSIQ, animal and plant products that have a high risk of inspection and quarantine, such as fruits, meat, seeds and seedlings, and grain, shall only be imported via the approved designated ports. The approved designated port can set up a direct green channel for fruits imported into Yiwu and change the past situation that imported fruits had to be imported via Shanghai and Xiamen Ports and then transported overland, which will not only shorten importing time but also reduce logistics cost. After the completion of the designated port for imported fruits, Yiwu citizens will have a chance to taste fresh foreign fruits in the first time. Besides, the continuous growth of imported fruit consumption in Jinhua, Lishui, Quzhou, and even Jiangxi will be effectively satisfied.
